Austin Sisneros (July 9, 1991 — February 8, 2023)[1] was a contestant on Season 8 of American Idol.

Audition[]

Austin auditioned in Salt Lake City. He sang "When I Look to the Sky" by Train and "It Takes a Village" by Raffi. Although the judges thought his song choice's were weird, all four of them voted "yes", sending him to the next round.

Hollywood Round[]

Austin was showcased in the second part of Hollywood Week singing in an unknown group. He was eliminated during the cut that immediately followed.

Death[]

Austin died on February 8, 2023 as a result of suicide, following a lifelong struggle with depression. He was 31 years old.[2]
