Alex Wagner-Trugman (born June 4th, 1989- ) was a contestant on Season 8 of American Idol.

Audition

Alex auditioned in Phoenix. He sang "Baby, Come to Me" by Patti Austin and James Ingram. Although Simon voted "no", Randy, Paula and Kara all voted "yes", sending him to the next round.

Hollywood Round

Alex was shown on the second day of Hollywood Week, in the same group of eight as David Osmond, Erika Wesley and Emily Wynne-Hughes. During the cut that occurred shortly thereafter, it was revealed he did enough to advance. Later, Alex was shown in a group called "Action Squad" along with Emily, Ryan Pinkston, Ann Marie Boskovich and Emily Wynne-Hughes singing "Don't Stop" by Fleetwood Mac. He advanced along with Ann Marie while Emily and Ryan were eliminated. After his final performance on Day 4, it was revealed that he and everyone in his room had advanced, including Ricky Braddy, Michael Sarver, Stephen Fowler, Alexis Grace, Kenny Hoffpauer, Jasmine Murray, Nathaniel Marshall, Joanna Pacitti, Arianna Afsar, Casey Carlson and Kai Kalama. At the judges' mansions, they requested a sing-off between him and Cody Sheldon to determine who would land a spot in the Top 36. He sang "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" by Elton John. After a couple of minutes, the judges revealed that Alex would be advancing and Cody would be eliminated.

Top 36

Alex was shown in Group 3. He sang "I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues" by Elton John. He was eliminated at this stage of the competition.
