Alex was shown in a group called "4U" with Stephanie Schimel, Kalli Therinae and Holly Miller. They were initially going to sing "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler but at the last minute changed their song selection to "Somebody That I Used to Know" by Gotye, ft. Kimbra. She was eliminated at this stage of the competition.
