Alanis Sophia Gonzalez-Sanchez (born July 11, 2001),[1] known on the show simply as Alanis Sophia, was a contestant on Season 19 of American Idol.

Audition[]

Alanis auditioned in Los Angeles. She sang "Anyone" by Demi Lovato. All three judges voted "yes", sending her to the next round.

Hollywood Round[]

Alanis was shown in a montage of contestants who advanced following the Genre Challenge, alongside Madison Watkins, Jason Warrior, Zachary D'Onofrio, Alyssa Wray, Hannah Everhart, Anilee List, and Ronda Felton. During the Showstoppers Round, she sang "Uninvited" by Alanis Morissette. During the Final Judgment, she was called up alongside Casey Bishop. Afterwards, during the Final Judgment, the judges told them that both contestants did enough to become a Top 24 semifinalist.

Top 24[]

Alanis sang "Alive" by Sia, and "Shallow" by Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper in a duet with Jimmie Allen. She received enough votes to be considered "safe".

Top 16[]

Alanis sang "The Story" by Brandi Carlile. She did not receive enough votes to become a Top 12 finalist, placing her in the Danger Zone, awaiting the Judges' Wild-Card verdict.

Wild-Card[]

Alanis sang "Heart Attack" by Demi Lovato. The judges did not pick her as a Wild-Card, eliminating her from the competition.
