Larry Platt (born August 27th, 1947), known by his nickname 'General' Larry Platt, was a contestant on Season 9 of American Idol.
Audition[]
Larry auditioned in Atlanta. He sang his original song "Pants on the Ground" accompanied with some breakdancing. The judges laughed and enjoyed his song, but Simon Cowell mentioned that because he was overage, he could not advance. However, judges thanked him for coming on the show.

- Larry earned his nickname "General" via his tenacious efforts as a civil rights activist.
- His song "Pants on the Ground" received over 150,000 hits on iTunes and over 10,000,000 views on YouTube. It peaked at #46 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and #63 in Canada.
- He returned during the FOX network's then series finale extravaganza/Season 15 Finale, to perform a stanza from his song, alongside such other memorable Idol novelty acts as William Hung from Season 3.
